Events can bring communities together and create a “buzz” of excitement. Menter Môn have supported many activities with the aim of celebrating an area’s unique characteristics and resources. They also play an important role in putting a town or village on the map and attracting visitors that would otherwise not visit the area. Examples include:
This popular two week event involves communities all over Anglesey and attracts 4000 visitors to the Island every year. It celebrated it’s 10th anniversary in 2011 and now boasts a programme of over 30 guided walks with themes such as local food, heritage, geology, art and even speed dating.
The success of the event if largely due to the volunteers from the communities themselves. As well as being very knowledgable, they also have plenty of enthusiasm and passion for the area which comes across during the walks.

Moelfre Music has been running for over a decade and is the highlight of the events calendar at the seaside village of Moelfre. It is held on the picturesque seafront and attracts over a thousand visitors over the summer weekend. The entertainment includes local Anglesey artists as well performers from as far a field as Liverpool.
Menter Môn initially supported them through the Small Towns and Villages Initiative and has since continued to support different elements of the festival from various projects. It is very well supported by the local community many of whom volunteer their time to ensure its success.
