Heritage And Tourism Menter Mon Heritage Services
Menter Mon has been actively involved in implementing heritage related projects across the island. Following the completion of the Mona Antiqua report, procured through MM and funded by partners from the Isle of Anglesey County Council and Welsh Assembly Government, a strategic framework has been evolved. The framework was adopted by the county council and has been successfully embedded in a number of wider strategy documents.
Over the last few years we have been involved in project delivery in the following areas: Provision of town trails at Beaumaris and Holyhead. Development of www.angleseyheritage.co.uk web site Provision of visitor infrastructure at numerous sites e.g. Provision of interpretation panels at the islands ancient monuments Conservation and award winning conversion of Listed windmill into holiday accommodation
Our remit involves working closely with the islands communities to provide solutions and fully worked up project proposals for key heritage projects. In addition we are able to identify funding packages either as grants administered through Menter Mon or as bespoke packages specific to projects.
We have in-house specific experience of successfully accessing the following funding: Heritage Lottery Fund – main grants and PPG Cadw – Ancient Monument Grants Europe – Leader, Interreg 111A and Rural Development Plan We are co-ordinating a bid for Convergence funding (Objective 1) on behalf of Anglesey Small grant packages under £20k
Menter Mon also coordinate funding from the Rural Development Plan.
We are able to provide elements of the above services to the islands community groups and as part of a wider consultancy facility operated by our sister company Anog. For further information and a preliminary discussion contact Neil Johnstone on 01248 725700 Potential Funding for heritage related projects.
We have identified a number of opportunities for funding over the next few years. Menter Mon will continue to be proactive in sourcing funding for this sector, working with other partners and communities for the benefit of the island.
The Welsh Assembly Government have emphasised the important role of Wales’s heritage in regenerating communities and attracting new visitors to enjoy our outstanding landscapes and historic sites. The political emphasis can be seen in the potential availability of funding for good projects in the next few years. |
