These spaces are collaborative workspaces for making, learning, exploring and sharing ideas, that use a host of technological tools. The type of technology available in the spaces includes 3D printers, laser cutters, 3D scanners, sewing machines, and computers, which will also showcases\u2019 new technology and aim to develop a community of makers across the county.<\/p>\n
Dafydd Gruffydd, Managing Director of Menter M\u00f4n, said: “Menter M\u00f4n is very proud to have been able to offer such exciting opportunities to three towns on Anglesey to create these spaces. We are looking forward to the benefits that such spaces will offer to individuals, businesses and social enterprises to learn and understand new technology but also to have a positive impact on climate change through repair and reuse.”<\/p>\n
Holyhead Ffiws is the latest location to open in Anglesey, through our partnership with M\u00f4n CF, the space is located within The Computer Geeks store on Stanley Street in the centre of the Town.<\/p>\n
Alun Roberts, M\u00f4n CF Business Development Manager, said: “M\u00f4n CF is extremely proud to have the opportunity to be part of the innovative Ffiws project led by Menter M\u00f4n. With so much emphasis on encouraging all of us to recycle more and try to treat old goods – rather than throwing them away – it is a golden time to introduce new resources to the community of Holyhead and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n
With the new Ffiws space it is a great opportunity for local people to make use of the latest equipment to be able to repair goods or create unique items. There will also be an opportunity for new businesses to be able to establish and develop their enterprises by creating new products through access to machinery and technology.”<\/p>\n
In the coming weeks, a third Ffiws space will open on the High Street in Llangefni through our partnership with Mencap M\u00f4n.<\/p>\n
Martin Gallagher, Mencap M\u00f4n said: “Mencap M\u00f4n is very excited to have Ffiws in our new disability hub. By working with Menter M\u00f4n we are in a better position to offer opportunities not only to our members but to prospective new members with disabilities, by giving access to tools and technology, and to encourage creativity and learning new skills.<\/p>\n
Ffiws spaces have been funded by Menter M\u00f4n and Anglesey County Council through the Welsh Government Circular Economy, and North Anglesey Regeneration Funds.<\/p>\n
