She will be joined by two other former\u00a0<em>Sewing Bee<\/em>\u00a0contestants,\u00a0<strong>Lauren Tedstone (2023)<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Suzy Sankey (2024)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, attendees can participate in<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sewing and crafting workshops<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>Swap Don\u2019t Shop<\/strong>clothing exchange<\/li>\n<li>Bring clothes that need mending to the\u00a0<strong>repair caf\u00e9<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Buy from stalls selling\u00a0<strong>sustainable, vintage, and second-hand clothes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Watch a\u00a0<strong>fashion catwalk <\/strong>of clothes created in community workshops<\/li>\n<li>Learn about slow fashion in a\u00a0<strong>Q&amp;A session<\/strong>with the\u00a0<em>Sewing Bee<\/em>\u00a0contestants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While there will be a small fee for the workshops, all other activities are\u00a0<strong>free<\/strong>, thanks to Cyngor Gwynedd who are funding Menter M\u00f4n\u2019s Cylchol project, a circular economy initiative.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Debra Drake shared her excitement about the event, saying, \u201cI am thrilled to be part of this event\u2014the first of its kind in North Wales. Fashion today moves at a relentless pace, but this is an opportunity for all of us to slow down, learn new skills, and make the most of what we already own.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether it\u2019s through mending, upcycling, or making more mindful purchases, we can all play a part in creating a more sustainable future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She also highlighted the variety of workshops available on the day, adding \u201cThe workshops offered vary from learning how to embroider on clothes to creating yarn out of old t-shirts.\u00a0 A few of the workshops are also suitable for children over 8 years old, which makes it a truly multi-generation event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Debra has also been holding community workshops as part of the Cylchol \/ Llai scheme over the past few months, working with young people at Gisda to upcycle sweatshirts and teaching them basic sewing skills.\u00a0 Their creations will be showcased on the catwalk during the event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cI have enjoyed working with the young people at Gisda so much, and it\u2019ll be amazing to see their upcycled clothes on the catwalk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvents like this don\u2019t happen often in North Wales, so come along for a relaxed, inspiring day of learning and creativity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Elen Parry from Cylchol, Menter M\u00f4n added, &#8220;We\u2019re excited to host a day of fun for the whole family in Bangor as part of the Cylchol project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the support of Llai, we\u2019re running a slow fashion campaign to encourage people to rethink before discarding items that could be repaired or swapped.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough the Ffiws maker spaces, we\u2019re also holding workshops across communities in Gwynedd and Ynys M\u00f4n to keep this conversation going and inspire more sustainable fashion choices.&#8221;<\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":3387,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-3386","newyddion","type-newyddion","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.mentermon.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/newyddion\/3386","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.mentermon.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/newyddion"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.mentermon.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/newyddion"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.mentermon.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/3387"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.mentermon.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3386"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
