Overview
Innovation is central to all that we do at Menter Môn. We offer advice, support and inspiration to people who are starting out on their business journey. We work closely with Business Wales and have our own Hwb Menter to support entrepreneurship and provide the right tools for businesses to achieve their goals. We are active in growth areas within the economy such as digital technology, renewable energy, food and agriculture – and engage with regional networks to develop and strengthen our communities and deliver success.

Areas of Work
Supporting businesses – Menter Môn has supported businesses for 20 years and has fostered a close relationship with old and new enterprises over that time. We have also been able to take advantage of activities in various areas in order to add value to business support schemes e.g. food, agriculture, renewable energy, tourism and the Welsh language. At a regional level we provide support through the Hwb Menter, which has an emphasis on supporting new businesses through specialist advice and grants. Nationally we are one of the contractors for Business Wales, which is the Welsh Government’s main business support scheme.
Digital technology – Menter Môn has led the way by piloting a range of digital technology to help businesses and communities. This technology can provide useful data, reduce costs and improve services. SMART Towns Cymru started in Aberdaron to improve connectivity and is now a Wales-wide scheme that helps towns make decisions and strengthen the high street. We have also piloted ‘internet of things’ technology within agriculture, social care and tourism, and have worked with communities to improve broadband connectivity.
Food and agriculture – The food and agriculture sector is important to the region’s economy and Menter Môn has added value, developed supply chains and supported innovation. It’s important that value is preserved within the economy, and through schemes such as Larder Cymru we collaborate with public bodies to ensure that there are Welsh products on school and hospital menus. With the threats of climate change and food security, it is also important to be able to adapt. Tech Tyfu seeks to use technology to support new methods of growing crops and demonstrate new ways of farming.
