We will be hosting an exciting event in partnership with Lanotech Ltd on 6 March at Gwersyll yr Urdd Glan-Llyn, Bala. We aim to bring people together to celebrate wool, explore innovation, and discuss the future of the sector in Wales and beyond.
The event will have two parts:
Part 1 (1-5pm): Key speakers and topics
- Talks and presentations by a range of experts to discuss the history of the industry, alternative uses, innovation, and new businesses within the sector
- An opportunity to question discussion panels about the current state of the industry, its future, and the support available
Part 2 (5-7pm): Practical workshops (suitable for everyone – children welcome!)
- A variety of workshops showcasing what’s possible with wool – from felting to dyeing and weaving – led by talented craftspeople: Debbie Mercer, Paul Davies, Gillian Williams and Olwen Ford
- A podcast workshop with Cwmni Pum Plwy Penllyn to collect stories about agriculture and wool, along with an exhibition celebrating the tradition of sock knitting in Bala
- Refreshments will be available throughout the event, as well as opportunities to network with several stallholders, including the National Wool Museum, AberInnovation, Leather UK, Bulmer & Lumb, etc.
This is a free event, and everyone is welcome to join us – please register by clicking here or contact gwlan@mentermon.com. You are also welcome to get in touch if you would like to support the event, for example, by bringing a stall.
