The Town Hall, Llangefni will become the center of creativity on Saturday 24 January 2026 as Local Community Newspapers Day 2026 brings the communities of Môn together to celebrate local stories, local websites and the island’s local papers.

The day, which includes fun sessions for all ages, offers special opportunities for children, young people and adults to learn new skills, share ideas and inspire each other to contribute to the island’s journalistic life.

🌞 Morning Programme: Create and Contribute (10:00–12:00)

The morning is tailored for primary children, with two main sessions:

  • Village Children’s Party (Under 7s)
  • Story and song sessions, Môn Libraries stand, art corner, small journalism office and photo-and-story – with a cup of tea for parents!
  • Young Storytellers (ages 8–11)
  • A special session with the cartoonist and author Siôn Tomos Owen, as well as a fun journalism skills workshop with the Bro360 team.

🌟 Afternoon: Reporting Skills for Young People (1:00–3:00)

For young people aged 15–18, Correspondence Training is held by the Bro360 team.
It’s an opportunity to:

  • develop basic journalistic skills,
  • contribute to local websites such as Môn360 or to local papers,
  • gain a certificate that contributes towards the Community Challenge in the National Skills Challenge Certificate.

The training also includes a free resource pack to support new contributors.

🎤 Question Panel Open to All (3:00–4:00)

Experienced journalist Aled Hughes (BBC) will chair a panel of experts and stakeholders including:

  • Carwyn Jones – Senior Newspaper Reporter
  • Begw Elain – Journalism Student and Vice-Chair of the FAW Youth Council
  • Gwilym Jones – Chairman of The Network
  • Teleri Haf Hughes – Editor of Yr Arwydd

Anyone who is passionate about their area or who is interested in contributing to the future of local stories is welcome to join the discussion.
