December is a month full of community activities. It was great to be able to contribute to organising and supporting many communities to hold festive events and activities during December this year.
During the month, there were a variety of free events for families and communities that received support from our Balchder Bro scheme, including:
- A festive craft workshop in Llannerch-y-Medd, an opportunity to create traditional decorations and share creative ideas.
- The Santa’s Grotto in Holyhead and Llangefni through the medium of Cymraeg
- Christmas fair and Santa’s grotto at the Centre of Hen Ysgol Bodorgan
- Llangefni Christmas Lights – a magical celebration with live music, local businesses stalls and Santa welcoming children.
These events, and many others, were an opportunity for people to come together and create festive memories in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Balchder Bro’s intention is to bring communities across Anglesey together. We created opportunities for people to socialize and mingle in a festive mood in December, reminding everyone of the importance of special and unique communities. We were also proud that these events gave residents the opportunity to use the Welsh language in the community.
These activities are part of Menter Môn’s wider vision which is to unlock the potential of our people including our communities and ensure that the Welsh language flourishes.
