Menter Môn and performance company Kariad have brought magic to the communities of ynys Môn over the Christmas period, creating special experiences that bring different generations together. Creative shows and workshops were held including a magic show by Karen from Kariad at Cartref Y Rhos (Malltraeth), Plas Crigyll (Bryngwran) and Hafan Cefni (Llangefni), uniting residents with children from local schools to have conversations in an atmosphere full of fun and creativity.
The sessions offered an opportunity to experience magic, boosting the children’s and residents’ self-confidence in a dynamic, sensitive and inspiring way. The experience made everyone feel valued and able to contribute positively.
There were fun conversations between the generations at the end of the sessions, and the children shared songs from their Christmas shows.
Aaron Morris, Project Officer at Menter Môn, said:
“We saw it as important to arrange events like this over Christmas. It was nice to see the children and the residents feeling that they were valued and enjoying themselves.”
Menter Môn organised these valuable sessions. Kariad was responsible for creating a special show and environment in order to bridge the generations. This project is a great example of how art and performance can strengthen community ties and bring people together.

“It was a valuable experience to create a magic show that brought the generations together. Through the fun and magic, everyone learned that being kind, giving time to each other and being good friends is just as valuable as receiving gifts.
“The older generation got to relive the magic of Christmas through the eyes of the children, while the children enjoyed the playful and warm company of that generation. Everyone left with a smile and a boost to their confidence.
